Template for Family for Follow-Up

Template for a Guidance Document to be set up by the Head Person as the Primary Guide for the Tasks the Family should do to tidy up the affairs after that Head Person is Gone.

Introduction:

     Here is a template that might be set up by one in order to help one's family with guidance on Tasks the Family Members have to do in order to tidy up the affairs of the estate after that person is gone.

     This template was merely a suggestion by the writer with no obligation or guarantee that it covers all or most situations. Individuals may have to set up a list of tasks with guidance from their attorneys and accountants and based on the customs and laws of their country, state, and locality. It is the belief of the writer that this template serves the residents of US. Residents of other countries may have to get a suitable template for their own circumstances, and locations. It will, however, be of great help if knowledgeable people develop templates suitable for specific locations and make them freely available. Even if the developers of templates charge a small charge for a template, it will be good business for the developers and highly beneficial for the families.

     I will be happy if the following Template enables and excites them to develop and post good and useful Templates for the said purpose.

Task List – “After Me”

     When one is gone, those left behind will have a number of tasks to do.

      Hence, it is best if seniors prepare a list, update it periodically, and leave it where the loved ones can access it, if and when needed. Keep this document in a secure place as there can be some level of confidential information in here. Here is a template to prepare such a list with information that is appropriate in your case.

      The details here are relevant to US residents and if you live in another country, such details have to be changed.

      Please note that this is not your will. You should state where they can find your will. You should check with an attorney if this template is right for your situation.

      The preparers and providers of this template neither assume any responsibility nor provide any warranties. The user should use their discretion and judgement in utilizing this guidance template.

Varahavatharam gave us Water and land to live

Water neither leaves the earth nor comes from outside. Water from icebergs, aquifers, clouds, and the oceans is all that we have. All the water we have and will have is already here on the earth. (Possibly the space explorers take a little bit of water with them and leave it on other planets.)

Of course, it is possible that if all the water in the icebergs, lakes, rivers, and clouds goes into the sea, the sea level will increase. But, such water (on the land) is said to be a small proportion of the total water on the earth. The oceans and seas already have a very high proportion of the water on the earth.

 

If sea level goes up or down in one part of the world, it should be the opposite in some other parts of the world as all the oceans and seas are connected.

Hence, the main cause for sea level to rise is the water on the land portion of the earth reaching the oceans and seas. Let us analyze that aspect.

Total volume of water on earth is 1.386 billion km³ (333 million cubic miles) 97.5% of that water being salt water and 2.5% being fresh water.[1 & 2]

Thus, the Fresh water we have on the earth is 0.025 * 1.386 Km ^ 3 = 0.0365 billion Km ^ 3

Surface area of all oceans and seas = 361 * 10 ^ 6 Km ^ 2

If all the fresh water on the earth moves to the oceans and seas, the height of the oceans and seas will increase by the Volume of fresh water divided by the Surface area of the oceans and seas.

So, the increase in the height of sea water will be 0.0365 billion Km ^ 3 / 361 million Km ^ 2.

                        =  0.1 km = 100 meters.

Since there is no wall between the oceans and seas and the land, the water will move on to the land area of the earth. So let us calculate what happens if all the water covers the whole surface of the earth.

The total surface area of the Earth is about 510 million km² (197 million sq mi). Of this, 70.8%, or 361.13 million km² (139.43 million sq mi), is below sea level and covered by ocean water.[3]

Therefore, if the entire quantity of fresh water gets added to the saline water in the oceans and seas and spread over the whole area of the earth, the rise of the sea level = 100 * 29.2/100 = 29.2 meters. [4]

As we notice or understand the earth is really not a smooth sphere. It has deep depressions that formed the oceans and seas. If it were a smooth surface, the oceans and seas would have covered the entire earth and the earth would have been at a depth of 29.2 meters under water. This could be our fate unless we are careful with the environment! 

The puranas say that God Vishnu during the Varahavatara lifted the Earth from the seas. [5] If we do not take the literal meaning for the word ‘lift’ but to understand it as the Earth being taken out of its plight, we can realize that Srimannarayana might have reshaped the earth as it exists now, after his ‘lifting” it out of the sea. So, one should imagine that He squeezed the earth so that there are depressions that formed the deep depressions, where the water got stored and as the quantity of material of the earth got displaced, formed the hills and mountains while some portions stayed flat.

So, we have the current Earth and the environment as the gift we received from Srimanarayana.

As the sun shines, more water will evaporate and reach the land thus increasing the amount (or volume) of water on the land potion of the earth. But, because water runs downhill, it will try to go back to the sea, except where it is trapped or used up. Thus, a good recycling and recirculating mechanism provided to give us fresh water perennially.

If we create a smoke screen over the earth and reduce the sunshine (solar radiation) reaching the oceans, there will be less sea water evaporated and less amount of rain water on the land and the amount of sea water will increase. Furthermore, if we allow too much sun to melt the icebergs on land, water will run down to the oceans and seas. In either scenario or some combination of both, more water will reach the oceans and seas.

That is when the oceans and seas will begin to rise to the maximum level.

Based on the current trend, how long will it take to get there?

“The rate of sea level rise in the satellite era has risen from about 0.1 inch (2.5 millimeters) per year in the 1990s to about 0.13 inches (3.4 millimeters) per year today.” [6]

At this rate, the sea level will rise to its maximum level in 100 meters divided by 3.4 millimeters per year. That yields 29,412 years

So, it is likely to be a 1,000 generations. It may first affect those in low lying areas of the earth but, you tell your descendants to start getting towards the Mount Everest and they can be here on earth a long time. Moreover, as the ice melts, they will have some free land there on the Mount Everest to grow food. They should take some good soil and some seeds too. Yes! Some ammunition also as another country is already encroaching there.

Of course, by growing some trees, they can keep some water in those green trees and there will be less water going to the oceans and seas.

Sequences of Numbers in Chamakam and their Significance?

 Sequences of Numbers in Chamakam and their Significance

Sri K Suresh, in a Youtube Video [1], indicated that a particular sequence of numbers in Chamakam interested him.

People, who are not familiar with Chamakam and the numbers, may refer to this Blog [2].

The numbers are: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, …, 33.

These numbers are not sequential. There appears to be no pattern to them.

Sri Suresh decoded them and found that the sequence of numbers is actually the Differences of Squares of a sequence of Natural Numbers from 1 to 17. That was a good discovery.

But, what do the resulting numbers in Chamakam represent? The numbers could be a coded message of some type. I liked to find out.

I did an Internet search with the keyword Chamakam, which led me to a number of additional references. I am reproducing a few links at the bottom. [3]

The numbers of interest are the sequence of natural numbers, the difference of Squares of successive numbers, and the sum of the successive squares of numbers. Thus, there are three sets of numbers, which would be seen in Figure 1.

The process or method to arrive at these numbers is shown in Figure 2.

We notice three sequences as follows.

Sequence of Natural Numbers = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, … 17

Sequence of Squares on Natural Numbers = 0, 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36,  … 289

Difference of Squares of two successive numbers =  -, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, …, 33

The successive difference between any two numbers = 2

Sum of the Successive Difference of Squares of two successive numbers =  -, -,  4, 8, 12, 16, …

Each Sum of the Successive Differences of Squares differs from the prior one by a constant value = 4.

Incidentally, this sequence of numbers is also the sequence of successive natural numbers with each number multiplied by 4, i.e. 4 * (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, …).

While this derivation and arithmetic interpretation is interesting, I wondered what significance these sequences of numbers may have. I checked with friends knowledgeable about texts in Dharma Sastras such as, Sri Rudram and Chamakam if such sequences of numbers were referred in any other context. I will post their responses with their permission when I get them.

As I pondered over this puzzle, the idea of squares of numbers suggested to me areas of surfaces of structures. I wanted to see how a geometric representation would look like. The difference in squares of natural numbers can be represented as the area of a surface formed when two squares intersect as in the plan view of a structure. Thus the series of numbers can be referring to a series of the surface areas as shown in Figure 3. Could the numbers be pointing to a Structure?

That leaves us with the question as to what the other sequence of numbers would represent. The sum value can be the height of each segment as shown in Figure 4.

Of course, this prompts the question if there is any physical structure specified in the literature with such proportionate dimensions. Of course, that is for the experts to respond.

In the above figures, square shaped bases are shown at each elevation as the discussion dealt with Squares of numbers. However, the base can also be circles as a circle will have an area equal to Pi R ^ 2.  Such a structure can look like that shown in Figure 5.

It occurred to me that since a sphere has a surface area of 4 Pi R ^ 2, the sequence of numbers may represent the difference between the surface areas of successive spheres. But, I could not think of a geometric representation that shows the difference between the surface areas of two spherical segments. Roofs of a structure take such surfaces. I will try later on if it works out. 

Sri Panchanana M.R.L.N. presented a geometric explanation for these sequences of numbers in Chamakam. [4]

Another blog, “Mathematics in Chamakam” explains the significance of these sequences of numbers in cultural and religious terms as boons sought by worshippers. [5]

 Well! That brings me to the end my ability to think on this topic for now. Hence, I am posting this explanation on the Social Media and am requesting friends to reflect on the question with their knowledge of arithmetic, geometry, and the Dharma Sastras. They can provide a fuller and better explanation.

Som Karamchetty, PhD

     After working as an executive and as a senior staffer for sixteen years, Som retired from the US Army Research Laboratory (ARL) in 2004. Som was on the faculties of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, The University of Newcastle, Australia, and Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA as a full time member, or a visiting professor for over two decades.  He served as the ARL Distinguished Visiting Professor at Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA in 1996.

     In a sixty year engineering, applied research, and management career, he delivered several reports to customers and inventions to his employers, and received three patents and several awards. He was chosen as the Principal Technology Investigator for Artificial Intelligence and manager of advanced technology projects at Martin Marietta Data Systems. In 2016, he published a peer reviewed paper on hierarchical engineering model of the human body in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) publication.

     Dr. Karamchetty received M Tech and PhD degrees from IIT, Kharagpur, and BE (Hons) from College of Engineering, Kakinada, India. Trained as a Program Manager from the Defense Systems Management College (DSMC) he was admitted to the US Army Acquisition Corps in 1993. He is a life Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), held ASME committee positions, and was also a member of several professional associations.

     As a volunteer business mentor with SCORE Association from 2004, he counseled over 2,500 clients with a good fraction of his clients having started businesses and created jobs. He was honored as an Emeritus Mentor.

     He continues to write new concepts and proffers suggestions in a number of areas and works to help India and US in technical and business sectors.

The Right Course for US

Here is a very interesting and informative presentation at the link below. The US should look at it as a warning sign.

What we consume and what assets we have are not measures of our likely future. What we produce and what our capabilities to produce are the real indicators of our future.

The US should bring its production home and to very good friends in order to begin producing everything we need. Otherwise, before long, the workforce will forget how to make anything. Here are the indicators.

Over a half a century ago, young people used to distribute newspapers, help mother in washing dishes, assist dad in mowing the lawn, do child minding, work part time as waiters and waitresses in restaurants, and so on. They knew how to do manual work to earn and save money, and to create wealth for themselves and thus for the nation. Consequently, they used to grow up with good communication, marketing, making, and management skills. American farmers produced enough grains to help the hungry nations.

Now, children and young people get pocket money from parents to buy imported electronic devices and apps to play games using only their fingers. Parents take loans so that the children can pursue soft subjects in school and college.

Americans get immigrants to do manual labor. The immigrant laborers use imported machines and tools. We have no strategic plan to train unskilled laborers. The result is that they remain unskilled forever needing basic welfare benefits. Our academics do great theoretical and analytical discoveries and inventions. However, it is known that such creative ideas and concepts yield only single digit wealth while the final manufactured products yield high double digit returns.

We started counting a few hundred billionaires while ignoring hundred million families unsure of their future.

We should start making things before we forget what manufacturing is.

We should begin exercising our limbs again lest we suffer muscular dystrophy.

We should get back to building bridges and canals for international trade and development lest we are forced to build space high walls to defend our lands.

We should enrich our workforce skills along with advanced robotic and AI/ML technologies so the machines serve us lest we get forced to serve the masters of such machines.

We should deploy our intellectual, creative, communication, and manual capabilities so that all citizens work and enjoy the fruits and flavors of our combined effort.
